Products / Services   WELLNESS EXAMS:  We recommend semi-annual wellness exams for both dogs and cats.  The physical exam is extremely important, more important than over-vaccinating animals in our opinion.  During these exams the animal's eyes, ears, mouths, heart, lungs, abdomen, skin, and skeleton are all examined for any abnormalities.  Labwork is also a very important component of a thorough wellness exam.  Catching early signs of disease before it becomes serious is the key to a long and healthy life for your pet. VACCINATIONS:  In accordance with the American Animal Hospital Association, Dr. Silverness has tailored her vaccine protocols to be less stringent and on an as needed basis.  Only certain vaccines are now considered "core" vaccines.  All others are elective and again, based on the animal's needs.  We now offer every 3 year Rabies and Distemper vaccines for both dogs and cats. INTERNAL MEDICINE:  We encourage the practice of regular health screening for all pets, especially those over 7 years of age.  We have the ability to run blood work in house as well as take xrays, run EKG's, take blood pressures and eye pressures.  Starting at the age of 4 we recommend early renal disease screening for both dogs and cats. SURGERY:  Dr. Silverness has years of emergency and critical care experience as well as many years experience with exotics.  You can rest assured that all surgical procedures are performed by a licensed veterinarian at Mandarin Landing Animal Hospital.  Our patients are closely monitored while under anesthesia via their heart rate, respiratory rate, blood oxygen saturation, blood pressure, body temperature and EKG.

DENTISTRY:  We take dental care very seriously here at Mandarin Landing Animal Hospital.  Dental exams are part of all our semi annual exams.  Not all veterinary practices provide the same quality of dental care that we strive for here.  All cleanings are inspected by the doctor and any advanced therapies are performed by a doctor only.  In addition to meticulous crown and root scaling to remove dental calculi, we follow up with complete gum and mouth care.  Dr. Silverness has been trained in advanced periodontal and endodontal therapies.  We offer subgingival currete, gingivectomies, root planing (both closed and open/surgical), surgical extractions, dental x-rays, medicant applications such as Doxycycline a subgingival antibiotic treatment, Consil a bone regenerative treatment and Optiguard enamel sealants, endodontal therapies such as vital pulpectomies and root canal therapy.  We strongly recommend regular cleanings every 6-12 months on average to avoid painful and destructive disease as well as the need for costly advanced disease therapies. BEHAVIOR CONSULTS:  Dr. Silverness has a special interest in behavior.  Her degree in Psychology comes in handy every now and then, even with the animals. PET RESORT: We offer a variety of options for boarding including BRAND NEW LARGE RUNS, and a separate CAT CONDO ROOM with a view.  We also board exotics.  We allow family style boarding and even offer CABLE TV.  All dogs are walked three times a day rain or shine.  We have additional services that include time in our ROMPER ROOM for socialization and an INDOOR POOL and UNDERWATER TREADMILL for exercise or rehab. therapy.  Feel free to stop by any time to view our facilities. CANINE REHABILITATION THERAPY: We are the first in Jacksonville to offer full rehab. therapy by a certified rehab therapist.  Kathleen Touhey is currently the only certified therapist in town but Dr. Silverness is also persuing her certification.  We offer pre and post surgical therapy, injury rehab, sensory integration, strengthening and much more.  We can offer non surgical options to many conditions ranging from urinary incontinance to cranial cruciate injuries.  We offer therapeutic laser, ultrasound, NMES, pulsed magnetic therapy, manual therapy, aquatherapy and more.  Please feel free to stop by and visit our new facility.   FULL SERVICE GROOMING:  We now have a seasoned and talented groomer with over 20 years experience on site as well.   Services include haircuts, dematting, ear cleaning with hair pluck, nail trims and filed, external anal gland expression.  Baths include shampooing and hair drying with the option of being sent home with a stylish bandana and bows.   Teeth brushing are also offered as requested. BATHS:  We carry a full line of dermatological shampoos for pets with special skin conditions as well as routine soothing, conditioning baths.  Animals are dried and sent home with a stylish bandana.  Nail trims and ear cleaning are complimentary with all baths.  Hygiene cuts, ear hair plucking, anal sac expression and teeth brushing OR FULL SERVICE GROOMING are also offered.

PRESCRIPTION DIETS:  We currently carry a wide selection of prescription pet foods including Waltham/Royal Canine/IVD Select Care, Eukanuba, and Hills Science Diet. PRODUCTS:   To protect your pet from heartworm disease, we offer Heartgard Plus and Iverhart Plus. To help combat fleas, we offer several products including topical products such as Frontline Plus & Vectra 3D. We also carry Feline Advantage, and Feline Advantage -Multi. Additionally, we offer Comfortis, a monthly oral flea tablet for dogs. You can also pick up household and yard products to kill fleas.  Also available are a full line of dental care products, nutritional/herbal supplements, behavior modifiers, shampoos, and odor elimination products.  ADDITIONAL SERVICES:   We have the convenience of home delivery for prescriptions, including your Flea and Heartworm products.  We also provide online pet data recovery through E PETRECORDS system complimentary to our of our clients as well as email updates or email requests for appointments or prescription refills.
